UPCO, Inc. has achieved a Sigma Six level of quality in regard to field failures. During the past 7 years there have been only six rod failures due to manufacturing or field defects while the company has produced and shipped over 1,765,000 rods. This is a failure rate of less than 3.4 failures per million.

UPCO manufactures excellent quality seamless J-55 and Grade 1, N-80 pup joints. Prime tubing is purchased directly from our mill and tensile tested to verify its mechanical properties prior to any manufacturing activities. We produce our upsetting dies in-house, which provides us superior dimensional control over the final configuration of the pup joints. N-80 pup joints are full length normalized in a modernized, digitally controlled furnace. Forging flash is removed, the ends are chamfered and threaded and the pup joint is cold drifted prior to hydrostatic testing in custom designed fixtures. The quality built into the pup joints is reflected in the final painting and stenciling. UPCO pup joints are the BEST.

Perforated Pup Joints have two 3/8"holes every 2 linear inches of length between the transition area of the upsets. API does not recognize perforated pup joints. UPCO controls the material and manufacturing process to API specifications, but cannot apply the API Monogram to these pup joints.
